Celebrating This Morning

Nothing much happened this morning. But, when I walked out my front door and made my way to my car to drive to work, I noticed that it had rained last night. There were still a few small puddles in the parking lot. And, the air… well, it wasn’t quite as nice as it is right after a good, hard downpour; but, it was still fresh and there were still some light, fluffy clouds in the bright, blue sky.

I am so happy and grateful that I got to experience that this morning. It set my expectation for the whole day. I’m still having a great day!

I Used to Think That I Walk Fast

I used to think that I walk fast – mostly because I would actually walk faster than those around me.

But, once I started my current job in downtown Phoenix, I started to think that I walk slowly – mostly because those around me walk faster than me.

Now, when I talk about the period in my life when I thought that I walked fast, I’m referring to what my perception was compared to other people around me. Mind you, though, this was the case in nearly all circumstances (barring some behemoth like Shaq walking next to me in his great, powerful, basketball-playing, 20 ft. strides) – who would, of course, fly past me, practically leaving me swirling around in his wake) all the way up until I started my job in downtown Phoenix.

Once I started working in downtown Phoenix, the trek from the parking garage at 2nd Ave & Van Buren to the office at 1st Ave & Washington occurred with all (and, I mean all) other trekkers zipping past me along the same route almost as though I were standing still. And, it’s happened like that to and from the parking garage every day, including today.

Mind you, I’m trying hard to work with the Law of Attraction in my life just like Jan Canfield, Joe Vitale and the rest of “The Secret” crew instruct us to do. I’ll admit that I haven’t yet tried actively thinking and feeling about how… oh, I dunno’ – “nice and brisk and refreshing and speedy…” walking from the parking garage to work at at least the same speed as everyone else on the sidewalk would be. I’ve, more or less, been strictly observing. (Although, I must admit, I do indulge in the occasional… okay, frequent bit of revelry when those who’ve zipped past me end up waiting for the same street light to change before we can continue our trek together… that is, until they zip away from me again.)

So, it begs the question – am I (1) walking slower now than I did before I started my downtown Phoenix job, (2) walking the same speed as always but the downtown Phoenicians are all track runners, (3) perceiving that I walk slowly only in comparison to those around me in downtown Phoenix versus in comparison to those around me everywhere except downtown Phoenix, (4) manifesting a state of slow walking or a state of being surrounded by super-speedy walkers (perhaps due to my rather strong feelings of revelry when they have to wait for the same light as me – snicker, snicker), or (5) completely off my rocker?

Before you jump for #5, consider this – my current Gratitude Statement (or Intention Statement) states that I own $25,000 on 12/10/08. I have been working hard (just like Wallace Wattles said I would need to do) every day for weeks to manifest my state of owning $25,000 on 12/10/08. Perhaps the Universe, in working to bring that state of owning $25,000 on 12/10/08 to me, has slowed down my walking speed so that I’ll meet the person, thing, or circumstance in downtown Phoenix that will give me the $25,000! HMM… think on that one for a while!

And, check back here on 12/10/08 – I will not be at all shy about telling the world that my first serious manifestation really came into my reality, my existence!! I can’t wait – it’s going to be so much FUN!!

It’s Been a GREAT Weekend!!!

This weekend has been a great weekend! Not because I obtained any material things or because I beat any malady (Actually, my ear is still infected….), but because I chose for this weekend to be great! I finished reading Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” and I am empowered, above all else, to choose my thoughts. Really, choosing our own thoughts is the only real control we have over anything or anyone. And, it’s exhilarating!

I lost my mother to ovarian cancer on 10/7/08 and, had that terrible event occurred just a few years ago, it would have absolutely devastated me. I would’ve allowed myself to be thrown into the depths of despair and depression. Today, though – although I do miss my mother and am sad that she died prematurely – I choose to be grateful and happy for what I do have now. I’ve learned from Mr. Hill’s book and others that, just like the only real control we have is over our own thoughts, the only tangible thing we have is the now. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow isn’t here yet, so don’t be overly concerned about them. Certainly learn from your mistakes of yesterday and prepare for tomorrow… but, live for now. I’m working hard to make the starting of each day begin with a series of “thank you’s”, a habit. It takes a while to build a new habit, but not as long as it takes to get rid of an old habit! Starting each day with gratitude on purpose sets the tone for the entire rest of that day! It’s wonderful!

I also just finished reading Joe Vitale’s (aka Mr. Fire’s) latest blog entry (the link is below). In it he reveals the story of how he found himself 30 years ago in poverty and homeless on the streets of Dallas. The amazing part of that story is that, 30 years later, he’s rich, popular, famous, and prosperous! I haven’t purchased any of his books yet, but I intend to buy his “Attractor Factor” book as soon as possible! I want to follow in his footsteps! (I think I already am, in a way.)

When I said that if my mother’s passing had occurred just a few years ago I would’ve allowed myself to fall into the depths of despair, it’s because just a few years ago I was – for all intents and purposes – homeless, jobless, divorced and in poverty too (Strangely, I was in Texas like Joe, too…. Hmm….). But, I returned home to Arizona, read Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and really took it to heart, and turned my life around. I’m now living in luxurious Scottsdale in a 3-bedroom apartment, and for the first time in my life really, truly own my own car that I purchased with my own cash and with an auto loan that I qualified for on my own. And, I re-married my former ex (!).

And, after listening to Leslie and Steven Householder’s “The Jackrabbit Factor” book on CD, it is so exciting knowing that what I want wants me! The dream house I’ve wanted for my family, the dream car (Mercedes Benz S600 – woo hoo!), the nest egg to beat all nest eggs, and money and opportunities to take my family traveling and so on… are excitedly looking for ME! I can’t wait!
